In what has become a record year for slug breeding, experts estimate that there could be 15 billion in Britain - with up to 1,000 found in a single square metre.
Where?:Slugs, as I'm sure that the bottom of your shoes are aware, are almost everywhere in the UK.
Bites:The lack of teeth downsizes the risk of going to the doctor with a gaping slug bite wound. They can eat twice their body weight, however, so if you're unfortunate enough to only be twice as big as a slug, watch out.
Protection:A good pair of shoes is your best accidental weapon here. Standing on a slug whilst barefoot is really rather slimy.
Worst-case scenario:
The slug banana skin disaster: Running at speed and connecting with an ambushing slug causes even the most stable of men to crumple onto the floor; another victim to the slug menace the UK.
