Cambridge sink their boat before the start of the 1984 Boat Race
Cambridge were preparing for the 1984 boat race against Oxford with a practice run on the Thames when they crashed into the barge being used by the umpires. This caused the £7,000 boat to sink before the race had even started. Cambridge's excuse; the barge hadn't been there on the other days they had practised.
