The 1993 Grand National is declared void after two false starts
In 1993 the Grand National was abandoned when the starting mechanism failed. During the first attempt to start the race the windy conditions caused the starting tape to get caught up with one of the horses. On the second attempt the tape got caught again but a false start wasn't called quickly enough. Several of the horses continued to run the race oblivious to the fact it was void and as a result the race could not be re-run.
