Doisneau was one of France's most highly regarded photographers, famed for his playful and ironic depictions of Parisian street life through a series of seemingly spontaneous images

The master, born in 1912, is quoted as saying "The marvels of daily life are exciting; no movie director can arrange the unexpected that you find in the street." Francoise Bornet and her then boyfriend agreed to pose for this seemingly spontaneous photo in 1950 entitled 'Kiss by the Hotel'.
