The Chilean tarantula may scare you if you stumble across it, but its medicinal benefits are much more calming, according to researchers at the University of Buffalo.
A peptide from its venom can calm irregular heart rhythms by stopping the often fatal rapid heart muscle contractions that follow an attack. This same venom also aids the treatment of brain cancer.
