Used in research to battle: Early infections

Scientists have developed a test which uses the protein extract from the creature to detect white blood cell activity. This gives an early warning sign of infection.

"We can tell if people are training too hard because their white blood cells get hectic" says Dr Robert Knight who founded the test for athletes.
