6. Recession
Recession hit the people hard in all areas, with job security being just one of many worries associated with the nation's financial woes. The strength of the pound plummeted and became on a par with the Euro for exchange rates.
An unstable economic climate does little for international trading as few would risk investing in businesses that have little capital. Sir Alan Sugar urged us to try our hardest to buy British and not foreign imports whenever possible to strengthen our market.
