Why fairytales are no longer bedtime stories
10. 'The Emperor's New Clothes'
Traditional children's fairytales are being replaced by modern bedtime stories - because parents believe the originals are politically incorrect and too scary for youngsters.
The title above - originally written by Hans Christian Andersen - tells of two scoundrels who take advantage of an emperor's vanity by making an invisible suit that only the stupid can not see. His humiliation is then concealed by the bystanders' pride as they will not admit they see him naked.
