The hustle and bustle atmosphere of the great British marketplace may soon become a thing of the past after traders have been told to shout quietly from their stalls.

Office workers in Hexham, Northumberland have complained that the noise levels coming from the market has been giving them a headache.

Tyneside district council has since ruled that tradesman can only call out what they have on offer on Tuesdays and Saturdays to reduce noise pollution in the area.
