Two gutsy OAPs foiled a chip shop robber with a bowl of mushy peas. Kieran Naylor, 21, hopped over the counter of the Lucky Supper Bar in Bolton, Greater Manchester and struck the 65-year-old owner several times with a hammer.

Hearing the commotion, his 61-year-old partner entered the shop armed with a bowl of peas. As Naylor went for the till, she hurled the peas at him knocking him off his feet. The red-faced raider left empty-handed and was arrested. Naylor received a three year prison sentence, whilst it was business as usual for the unnamed chip shop owners.
