In recent years Bonnybridge has become known as the scene of numerous UFO sightings. The most famous sighting occurred in 1989 when a fire-crew attending a nearby blaze witnessed three extraordinary red objects hovering above the Loch. One of the objects launched itself at them only to veer away at the last minute. The press would later dub Bonnybridge as the world's No.1 UFO location.
