Vauxhall Astra MkII: European Car of The Year in 1985, the MkII's rounded features were a revelation 20-odd years ago and still look good today. Particularly attractive to thieves are the sporty SXi, SRi, GTE and GTE 16v versions.
Why thieves like it: Because of their age, many Astra MkII's lack alarms, immobilisers and even central locking. By now the old locks will be worn, making it easy to prise them open with a screwdriver. Many young drivers still dream of driving the cool 16-valve GTE.
How to stop it being stolen: Fit a good quality steering lock.
