Culprits: 'Agadoo' and others

Yes it's the cheesy holiday songs that you were forced to dance to - 'Agadoo' however was possibly the worst! Recorded in 1984 by Black Lace, this track was the ultimate nonsense pop song. Worse still, the smash hit single has been re-released 25 years after it reached No 2 in the UK charts.

However there were many other offenders, such as 'The Conga' and 'The Superman Song'(also by Black Lace) and they all had one thing in common - terrible dance moves. They were usually accompanied by overly happy-clappy beats and lyrics that make no sense.

Admittedly there was a handful of 80s classics, Madonna to say the least, but the shameful memories of these pop catastrophes remain too strong to ever allow us to fully credit the era for music.
