Internet addiction
Defined as time spent on the internet at the expense of occupational, social and relationship activities, becoming an internet addict is increasingly common.
Research at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York showed that after treatment with the antidepressant escitalopram, internet use had dropped from an average of 36.8 hours a week to 16.5 hours. However, the same results were achieved with a placebo.
