Gregory Peck reached the pinnacle of his career with his Oscar winning performance as Atticus Finch, a lawyer in racially divided Alabama who defends a black boy accused of raping a white woman.
'To Kill a Mockingbird' explores the nature of labels in society with thought-provoking intelligence, grace and even the odd blast of unexpected humour. Finch is probably the most idealistic character ever seen on screen, and Peck plays him brilliantly in one of those rare films that matches the stature of the source novel.
