Chariots of Fire (1981)
While it may not have all its facts straight, this 'true story' of the British athletic team at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, certainly has one of film's most triumphant moments.
Despite being set in the 1920s, the electronic synthesizer and piano score by Vangelis screams 80s production but makes up for it in timeless movements. The title theme tune has become synonymous with slow motion running scenes ever since, and for good reason.
