13-year-old Libby Surmon from Feltham, south-west London, has been ridiculed for taking part at Remembrance Day parade.
Her mum, Keeley Price, 37, tried to boost her spirit by posting a picture on her Facebook page as she joined people of all ages in the parade on Sunday.
Within hours, Facebook users from around the globe liked and shared the post. Soldiers in the Armed Forces also gave support for the young lady.
Ms Price said: "I posted a picture on my Facebook page to gather a bit of encouragement for her.
"In 11 hours my Facebook had gone mad!
"I was even approached this morning to say she was the topic of conversation in Lincolnshire.
"There is so much bad press in this (Feltham) area, but this shows there are still good influences in the area too.
"Generally people have been saying its so nice to see young people showing respect and giving their time, and not to listen to people who want to ridicule her.
"Libby was shocked so many people had seen the post that she has been slightly overwhelmed by it - the support and encouragement have helped a lot.
"I'm very proud of Libby for doing what she thinks is right regardless of ridicule.
"For her this was a massive respect thing for her to do."
