A 14-year-old boy fought a man who tried to kidnap him while he was on the way to school.
The man, who was driving a silver-coloured car, pulled over to the pavement where the teenager was walking at about 7.45am.
He then got out of the vehicle and ordered the boy to get inside. He then threatened the youngster that he would hurt him if he refused.
The boy was able to push the man as he tried to grab him and run off. The man then started to chase him but the boy managed to hide in a nearby garden and call his mum.
She immediately called 999 and went to collect her son.
Detective Constable Guy Hookway said: "Fortunately the boy managed to run away from the suspect and raise the alarm.
"He is still very shocked by what happened and is bewildered as to why someone would want to do this to him.
"He is obviously worried but luckily he is safe and well and no harm came to him.
"However, it is very important that we locate this man.
"If anyone recognises him from the e-fit image then I urge you to contact police immediately."
The suspect is described as a white man, aged between 30 and 40 years. He is about 5ft 11" tall of slim build and had short, black spiky hair.
