Worcester City Council Stream Funeral Services
Worcester City Council announces plans to offer live streaming funeral services.
19:44 18 July 2018
Worcester City Council is making it easier for people to be part of the funeral of their departed loved ones through a £30 live streaming service that it launched yesterday. The service comes with optional add-ons, including a £50 DVD and a package with a set number of still images from services at Worcester Crematorium for about £60.
Deborah Smith, spokesman for the National Association of Funeral Directors, said: ‘Our members know that families want to get everyone involved in a funeral who wants to be.
'With families much more dispersed these days and often living abroad, it can be a big help.’
The council says that the service would be helpful for mourners who are too ill or infirm to travel to the crematorium, ex pats and soldiers posted abroad. The service is expected to make Worcester City Council up to £120,000 annually, but after costs are deducted, the income is likely to be less than £5,000.
