What is WhatsApp Live Location?

WhatsApp launches its live location feature.

WhatsApp has announced its new feature that allows users to share their location with family and friends in real-time. It is expected to be rolled out over “the coming weeks.”

 

By selecting “Share Live Location” option in the app, users on Android and Apple iOS devices will be able to temporarily share their location. The feature is encrypted end to end for privacy and security. 

 

In a blog post, the Facebook-owned app said: “Whether you’re meeting up with friends, letting loved ones know you’re safe, or sharing your commute, Live Location is a simple and secure way to let people know where you are,”

 

Users chatting on WhatsApp will be able to find the new “Share Live Location” feature under “Location” after clicking the Attach button in the app. They can then decide if they want to share their location, how long they are going to share the information, and with whom they’re going to share it with. The feature can be turned off at any point. If multiple people in one group share their locations, then all of them will be visible on one map.
