What is a Brain Computer Interface?
Controlling a machine using the brain is closer to reality than you think.

A technology that will allow you to control a machine using your brain (no button pressing, typing or screen tapping) is here. It is a product of a research that has come from the world of medicine, where great strides are being made using brain-computer interface or BCI.
This technology has turned the life of Bill Kochevar, who was paralysed from the shoulders down following a cycling accident nearly a decade ago.
Following the implantation of sensors into his brain and a four-month period of training the system by thinking about specific movements, he is now able to feed himself again.
"This research has enhanced my ability to be able to do things," he said.
The technology is also being used in other industries. Recently, carmaker Nissan unveiled a “brain-to-vehicle” headset that monitors a driver’s brainwaves to work out what you’re about to do – before you do it. The technology allows the vehicle to respond more quickly than a driver’s natural reaction in time.
Meanwhile, a virtual reality firm called Neurable has developed a mind-controlled computer game that uses sensor-equipped VR headset. It does not use hand controller at all.
