Westhoughton CCTV Renewal

High-quality CCTV installed in Westhoughton to be renewed.

City councillors have voted for the renewal of high-quality CCTV camera installed in Westhoughton during their meeting on Monday. The council spends £6,500 per year on it but councillors agree that it is worth paying for as it helps improve safety in the area.

 

Cllr David Wilkinson said: “We’ve had CCTV in the town centre for a long while. Anybody who thinks CCTV is easy to install — it was one of the longest processes for this town council.

 

“But it worked, we did get it.

 

“It’s an high-quality camera system. It has been used by the police for a lot of incidents over the years.

 

“It has made the town centre a safer place, as it should be.”
