UK May Defy the United States with Huawei 5G Kit
The smartphone industry is without a doubt a huge one, and it makes plenty of money for technology companies.

This is why it’s probably always going to be quite the talking point for people. Yet, the latest talk is primarily about the upcoming 5G launch. Yet, while much of the talk regarding better, faster data connections through smartphones and tablets has been positive, one negative side has been with regard to the controversial Huawei company.
While the United States has outrightly warned other nations of the risks associated with the Huawei brand, it doesn’t look like some places are intending to heed that warning. In fact, both Germany and the United Kingdom seem set to welcome Huawei and its 5G kit to their markets. Germany’s chancellor, Angela Merkel has stated that it is too risky to ban any provider offering a 5G service, and that includes Huawei.
Yet, perhaps in a more surprising turn of events, the United Kingdom also looks to be in line to welcome the brand’s devices and 5G service to its shores. Even though it is expected that the USA will mount some kind of last ditch effort to argue against the Chinese technology company due to certain risks, Downing Street said on Thursday that it believes the kit is necessary to ensure the 5G mobile network is “affordable”.
That being said, the belief is that a ministerial meeting taking place next week will introduce fresh restrictions on certain aspects of the Huawei brand.
Downing Street Speaks Out Against US Push to Exclude Huawei
A source in Downing Street said that the exclusion of Huawei products and services by the USA is not a viable route to take for the UK. “The market conditions are not the same in the US and UK”, the source said. Naturally, with the introduction of 5G services – regardless of who they’re from – smartphones and tablets will be able to experience greater data connectivity. This is great news for mobile bettors, who will be able to participate in their favourite sports betting opportunities from anywhere with ease. This is already possible through the 888sport mobile app for example, but with increased connectivity, things could get even better.
The United States believes that the UK is compromising its security over cost, though. It has been a stance of the US that Huawei brings a surveillance risk with it, as sources suggest that the company is “funded by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army”.
The US Treasury Secretary, Steven Munchin is due to arrive in London at the weekend in order to give a speech and meet up with the British counterpart, Sajid Javid. The topic of Huawei and its 5G services are thought to be a topic that will be discussed between the two before a final decision is made in the UK.
The National Security Council (NSO) will be making that final decision, and it will be chaired by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, whilst being attended by multiple senior ministers at the same time. A large number of security and military chiefs are also said to be expected to attend.
