Tourist in Dubai sentenced to one year in prison for having sex with prostitute

The prostitute, an Usbek woman was sentenced to three years in jail.

A 32-year old tourist in Dubai who was found guilty of having sex with a prostitute in a Dubai hotel has been sentenced to one year in prison.

 

Although the tourist explained that he only hired the prostitute to massage him, he was sentenced by Dubai Court of First Instance on December 23.

The Saudi tourist said: 'I am not guilty. I did not have sex with her. I tried to be sociable when I consumed liquor.’

On the other hand, the 34-year-old prostitute, an Usbek woman who has confessed to being a prostitute, was sentenced to three years in prison.

 

She was previously deported from Dubai for working as a prostitute. The two of them were also given another month in jail for drinking alcohol.

The United Arab Emirates has some of the strictest sex laws in the world. Individuals who want to have sex outside of marriage risk imprisonment, deportation, and/or fine if proven guilty. The law  also don’t allow unmarried couple to share the same hotel room.
