A number of Netflix subscribers in the United Kingdom took to social media to vent their frustrations after they were unable to access the streaming site for two days. Based on posts on social media, the first instance occurred at around 7pm on March 13. Netflix did not publicly address the issue but was quick to get services back up again.
Netflix is currently the leading streaming service, boasting more than 100 million subscribers around the world. Its growing popularity is credited to its hit programmes, including House of Cards, Master of None, Stranger Things and The Crown.
David Wells, the firm’s chief financial officer, has confirmed that they are investing £6 billion into financing new shows in a bid to attract more subscribers and keep up the momentum in the face of constant competition from Amazon Prime Video. Disney is also set to start its own streaming service with its impressive backlog of titles, including Star Wars and Marvel franchises.
