George Lucas is set to bring back cult classic Star Wars, this time in 3D.
The films, which spawned six films released over three decades, are to be re-mastered in order for fans to see the action in 3D.
The first to be released, Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace, is expected to hit screens in 2012 with the rest to follow soon after.
It has been reported that 3D films have increased the UK box office with an increase of 8% takings.
This year alone has seen the release of some major players in the market, with Alice in Wonderland, Avatar, Toy Story 3 and the latest Shrek all being key to its success.
The latter will also release its first three films in the 3D format over the coming years as will the Harry Potter saga.
