Hollywood film star Tony Curtis has died at the age of 85.

The Oscar-nominated actor passed away peacefully in bed at his home in Nevada.

CurtisÂ’ career spanned six decades and he starred in more than 120 films, including Spartacus, Trapeze and opposite Marilyn Monroe in Some Like it Hot.

His daughter, actress Jamie Lee Curtis, spoke of the legacy of great performances her father leaves behind.

“He leaves behind children and their families who loved him and respected him and a wife and in-laws who were devoted to him. He also leaves behind fans all over the world.”

The actor was married six times, including to Psycho star Janet Leigh, with whom he had two children, one of which is actress daughter Jamie Lee Curtis.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Vandenberg Curtis, and six children.
