Nest IQ’s defining feature, which identifies a stranger from a family member, is groundbreaking.

Nest Cam IQ Indoor Security camera is the latest addition to the firm’s range of connected products, which also include smart smoke detectors and thermostats.

 

The new security camera features 4K image sensors with 8MP resolution, 12x digital zoom and high dynamic range, HD Talk + Listen capabilities, and improved Nest Cam IQ speakers that are said to be seven times more powerful than the original Nest Cam. It also has in-built noise suppression and echo cancellation.

 

However, its defining feature is what the firm calls Nest Aware, which identifies a stranger from a family member.

 

Lionel Guicherd-Callin, head of product marketing, said: "We have launched completely redesigned indoor and outdoor hardware, dozens of new product features, a completely redesigned app experience, and meaningful improvements to our Nest Aware service.

 

"In addition, Nest Cam IQ offers intelligent alerts that few competitors offer, including person alerts, Familiar Face Alerts, person talking, and dog barking, that deliver on the true promise of a security camera."

 

Nest Aware, which costs £8 per month or £24 per month for an extended package, offers an extra layer of intelligent alerts.
