'Withnail and I' cottage

Price: £265,000

The farmhouse made famous in the cult film 'Withnail and I' was bought by Cumbrian publican, Sebastian Hindley, who fought off seven rivals to win the furious bidding session at the Berkley Hotel in Knightsbridge.

The property in Sleddale Hall, near Shap was sold by the water company United Utilities. It featured in some key scenes in the comedy which starred Richard E Grant and Paul McGann.
