Home automation is becoming bigger and bigger as massive developments in impressive, futuristic features and relevant technologies make their way to the market and our homes. A new generation of devices consisting of security cameras, appliances and door and window locks, among many others, are now designed to work better than ever to maximise user comfort and convenience.

 

However, these technologies are only as effective as their power source. Michele Windsor, from battery provider Ultralife, argues that having high quality, long lasting batteries deserve as much attention when it comes to automation product design.  

 

In a smart home, it is crucial to always ensure that every component is working and that every sensor should be on all the time to gather information and make sure that all devices are working together nicely. These sensors are what feed data to the smart house, so it knows what temperature or time it is or whether the sun is glaring through your windows. The majority of sensors used in home automation are battery operated and thus, need batteries that are reliable and long lasting.

 

Experts predict that smart home automation will become even more popular in the near future. Setting out solid battery design now will avoid mass sensor outages in the future that can definitely lead to customer dissatisfaction and a possible backlash against manufacturers.
