New Amazon Sci-fi shows

Amazon is developing new sci-fi shows for its streaming service.

Amazon has confirmed that it is in the process of developing three new high-profile sci-fi TV adaptations for its streaming service – Snow Crash, Lazarus, and Ringworld.

 

Ringworld is based on Larry Niven’s series of sci-fi novels from the 70s. It follows the life of a 200-year old man named Louis Gridley Wu who is bored with his life in the technological future and who decides to explore an artificial structure called Ringworld. This show is being produced in conjunction with MGM.

 

Snowcrash, on the other hand, follows Hiro Protagonist who discovers a new computer virus that kills his fellow hackers. Based on the novel by Neal Stephenson, Snowcrash takes place in a cyberpunk future where the world is ruled by corporations. This show is being developed in partnership with Paramount Television. Its executive producers are Frank Marshall and Joe Cornish.

 

The third show is called Lazarus, which is based on the comic by Greg Ruca, who is also one of the show’s producers. It is set in an alternative future where 16 rival families rule the world. Each employs an assassin known as a Lazarus to help them deal with their rivals.
