New Versions of Amazon Echo Unveiled

This week, Amazon has unveiled a new generation of Alexa-powered devices and services in Seattle.

The giant technology firm has replaced the first version of its Echo speaker with a device of the same name. The new £89.99 Echo is slight shorter, wider, and produces better sound quality than its predecessor.

 

Other devices unveiled are:

 

·       Echo Plus - A £139.99 device that offers even better sound quality and works as a smart home hub. It has been designed to allow users to control home devices like Philips Hue light bulbs, Samsung SmartThings devices, and Hive thermostats, among others.  

 

·       Echo Show – The £199.99 device that will go on sale in the UK later this year. This device features a 7-inch touchscreen for video calling and other visual content like song lyrics. 

 

·       Echo Spot – A small, round device predominantly designed to be an alarm clock. The £97 device features a 2.5-inch circular screen and is a cross between the small Echo Dot and screen-toting Show.

 

·       Echo Connect – A speakerphone that you can plug into your traditional landline ports. It works with your home phone number.
