Brits can expect a mini heatwave with temperatures soaring to 28c over the next few days. Also, August is also offering the country plenty of beach and BBQ sunshine with weather experts predicting highs that could be slightly above average this month.
Met Office spokeswoman Nicky Maxey said today: "We've got a low pressure system bringing warmer air to our shores from the Azores.
"As that system moves over the continent London and the South East could hit 27C or 28C on Sunday and Monday as hot air moves in from France.
"There will be plenty of sunshine across the country and only patchy cloud with Bristol reaching 24C, Birmingham on 22C, Leeds at 21C and Newcastle on 18C.
"It also looks like a lot of nice weather is on the way for holidaymakers in August.
"There is always the chance of some showers and blustery conditions but it's not doom and gloom by any stretch of the imagination.
"There will be plenty of sunshine and temperatures look like they will be around average or just above for the time of year."
