Grandfather arrested for selling baby on Facebook
An Indian man was arrested after conspiring with hospital personnel to sell his daughter’s three-day-old son through Facebook.

An Indian man was arrested after he allegedly tried to sell his own grandson on Facebook. According to police reports, the 47-year-old struck a deal with two hospital personnel to kidnap his daughter’s son just hours after he was born.
The grandfather was allegedly offered £550 by hospital workers who are believed to be involved in a child trafficking ring. Later, the infant was sold to a businessman in Delhi for £9,660. The deal was thought to be arranged on social networking site, Facebook.
According to Noora, the mother of the child, the hospital workers came to her house days after she gave birth to her son. They claimed that the infant was sick and had to be taken to the hospital. The next day, the mother was informed that the child had died.
On April 12thNoora’s father reportedly received £550 from people who came to their house. Right after receiving the money, he left the house. For this reason, Noora became suspicious and reported the child missing.
Police found the child in the hospital well and alive. They were also able to arrest the grandfather and hospital workers who are believed to be part of child trafficking ring. They are due in court on Wednesday. If proven guilty, they could face up to seven years in jail.
