The Birmingham tornado
An even larger tornado struck Birmingham in 2005. 22 people were injured - three seriously - as a 130mph tornado ripped through the streets damaging 1,090 buildings, uprooting trees and trapping people in their homes. The tornado lasted for four minutes.
On average Britain is hit by a tornado the size of the Birmingham Tornado every two years, but they mostly form over countryside where they do less damage.
