The story: As the 1980s drew to a close, two bands were fronting what would fuel the grunge explosion - friendly rivals Soundgarden and Mother Love Bone. When the frontman of Mother Love Bone, Andrew Wood, died of an overdose, Soundgarden's frontman started to pen some songs in tribute with the help of both members of the bands.
Around the same time, Pearl Jam was in its very early genesis and Eddie Vedder tagged along to the recording sessions (which were fast becoming an album). Vedder emerged from the shadows of backing vocals to sing a duet with Cornell on 'Hunger Strike', almost stealing the show when Temple of the Dog's self-titled album was released in 1991. In the same year, Pearl Jam's epic 'Ten' album came out, featuring a very similar band...
