Based on a novel by James Fogle, this film is follows the life of a family of drug addicts as they rob pharmacies and hospitals to fuel their addictions and the battles they face as they try to give up.

Winner of the Award for Best Screenplay from three different critics: the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, National Society of Film Critics and New York Film Critics Circle, this film also won the Award for Best Director from National Society of Film Critics.
