Director Ron Howard tells a true story of the common man who rises again, as a former prize-fighter(Russell Crowe), struggles to make his way from rock bottom and out of debt. In a last ditch attempt to help his family and lift his self esteem, Braddock returns to the ring. No one gives him a chance, until he suddenly finds himself taking on the heavyweight champion of the world.

Crowe's subtle acting and the excellent direction help to elevate the crunching final showdown between Braddock and Max Baer(Craig Bierko), who has killed two men in the ring, into a brutal, bloody and fight scene.
