Despite creating one of the alchol world's most respected drinks, Jack Daniels was an unsavoury character whose greed finally got the better of him. In 1911, Jack apparently forgot the combination of his safe and in a drunken rage decided to kick the safe in a vein effort to open it. Jack developed a toe injury for his troubles, and died of blood poisoning days later.
