In 1830s America, Reverend Sylvester Graham, who invented Graham Crackers came up with a diet so boring (namely wholewheat flour based products) that he got nicknamed Dr Sawdust.
Sticking to a diet that tastes of fields of wheat would actually enable you to lose weight, if you incorporated your five-a-day that is.
