The Westfield opened to thousands of shoppers and despite the credit crunch the £1.7 billion mall saw an estimated 20,000 shoppers go through the doors by lunch time.

Westfield is Europe's largest urban shopping mall set on 43 acres. The complex houses 265 stores, where you can find Gucci, Prada, Chanel and Valentino, as well as major US firms including Apple, Nike, and Gap. There's also a cinema and library.
