Binned

Always the controversial installation artist, Hirst opened his Painting-By-Numbers exhibition in 2001 by assembling beer bottles, paint cans and ashtrays to resemble an artist's workplace.

But then the cleaner arrived to tidy up the building before the unveiling and threw it all away, forcing Hirst to sift through the bin to reclaim his piece.
