When cared for, Dobermans are loyal to their owners and will see off the burliest of burglars. Intelligent and brave, the breed was widely used by the US Marines in the second world war. 25 Dobermans died in 1944's Battle of Guam, and a memorial now stands in their honour.

Due to their representation in films and video games, many people consider them nasty and aggressive dogs. However, Dobermans only ever attack when they feel their family is in danger. In many ways they're like ninja dogs, sleek and smooth, yet vicious when necessary.
