'Guitar Hero' was far from the first game of its kind, having been pre-dated by the likes of 'Dance Revolution' and other beat based dancing games.

But by changing the emphasis from feet to a rather funky plastic guitar peripheral and incorporating the rock star fantasy into the premise of their game, 'Guitar Hero' really did pioneer the globally successful beat game of today.
