Based on Evelyn Waugh's 1945 classic British novel, 'Brideshead Revisited' is a story of forbidden love and the loss of innocence set in England prior to the Second World War.

In the film, although the story basically remains the same as the novel, much of plot threads have been dropped and it focuses mainly on the central love triangle between key characters Sebastian, Charles and Julia. This may have been wise considering what was also once a 12 hour, highly successful mini series has been condensed down to just two hours.
