Sex and the City star Cynthia married her long-time girlfriend, Christine, on 27 May in New York.

The actress' publicist confirmed the news to People magazine, stating:

"Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York."

The pair have a 15-month-old son together, Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, and Nixon has two children from a previous relationship, Samantha, 16, and 10-year-old Charles.

No further details about the ceremony are currently available.
