The previously American term "teenager" first cropped up in Britain in late 1957 and has gone on to spawn a million trends since. With the end of rationing and National Service, we began to recognise the existence of a generation between child and adult. Here, we celebrate - and suffer - half a century of rebellion, loud music, outrageous fashion and silly haircuts.
