Former Big Brother winner Nadia Almada checked herself into the Priory clinic last week after suffering from depression, several Sunday newspapers claim.

But the People claims that the transsexual reality TV star checked out of the North London clinic on Thursday after just one night because it was "driving her mad."

An unnamed friend told the paper, "It was driving her mad in there. She wanted professional help."

"But after one night she realised it was all too much."

Friends say Nadia, 28, has been struggling to cope with her dwindling career and life after her sex change operation.

The Portuguese winner of Big Brother 5 recently appeared on the Australian version of the reality TV show and was reportedly upset when her fellow contestants guessed that she used to be a man, unlike her British housemates who remained ignorant of her secret past until they left the house.

Another unnamed pal told the Sunday Mirror that the final straw came for the former Surrey bank worker when she was axed by her showbiz agent.

"Obviously Nadia has had issues in the past to do with her sexuality and with her career hitting the skids, it's all proved too much," the source told the paper.

Following Nadias speedy departure from the Priory, former Big Brother housemate and friend Dan Bryan told the People he would be keeping a "close eye" on the troubled reality TV star.
