House spider
There are more than 600 species in the UK and only one, Steatoda Nobilis, or the False Widow, is known to bite humans.
Where?:The False Widow, closely related to the more poisonous Black Widow, is found in Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Essex.
Bites:
Spider bites tend to be one or two little puncture marks.
Protection:
Do not disturb. Spiders usually only bite as a defence mechanism.
Worst-case scenario:
While bites from spiders outside the UK, can be fatal, if you're bitten by a UK spider, there's really no cause for concern.
