With another vaguely threatening premise to kick off this classic love story, we see Belle being traded to the Beast by her father to save his own skin.

Often re-packaged as a story that see's love overcome all boundaries, Beast learns to tame his wilder side in order to win Belle's heart. With obstacles such as some wonderfully in-tune but ignorant townsfolk, a sick father and a pesky wilting rose, it's a miracle that these two beat the (singing!) clock and made it into our countdown.
